    Center for Community Arts

    Center for Community Arts is part of the City of Walnut Creek’s Arts and Recreation Department. More than 10,000 adults and young people from Walnut Creek and beyond make art in comfortable studios around the city. Classes and workshops include drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, glass, fiber arts, jewelry, photography and digital media. The center also offers classes in dance, music and theater.

    Children's Playground at The Orchards

    Approximately one-half acre in size, the Children’s Playground at The Orchards is located on the north side of the shopping center, facing Shadelands Drive, set away from the roadway and adjacent to Viamonte Senior Living. The playground features a dedicated play space, playground equipment, climbing structures, a rope bridge, musical playground equipment, and sloped hills made of soft surfaces for climbing and rolling down.

    Community Arts Preschool at Shadelands is an arts-based developmental program that focuses on the whole child. This program uses three major preschool domains: social/emotional, physical and cognitive development. They use an integrated approach to encourage each child’s creativity and learning through visual arts, music, movement and the dramatic arts. They offer three age-specific programs starting from 24 months up to 57 months.
