A Direct Approach to Fundraising for Nonprofits

Let's Do It Promotions (LDI), founded in 2023, is a direct marketing firm and brand growth partner for nonprofits, conducting face-to-face outreach and targeted campaigns to help nonprofits build donor loyalty and achieve extraordinary fundraising results.

Under the leadership of founder and CEO Taylor Nock, LDI has raised millions of dollars for state, national, and international organizations that aid children and families, protect animals and wildlife, and preserve lands and waters essential for life. With her megawatt personality and can-do attitude, it’s no wonder that Taylor has been named an industry Rising Star.

“We’re solely focused on making sure that the nonprofits we represent are able to do the amazing work they do, and particularly now, at this time of governmental cuts to nonprofit funding and aid to those in need,” said Taylor, who has devoted a lifetime to volunteerism.

Taylor Nock, founder & CEO of Let’s Do It Promotions, is living her passion as an entrepreneur and advocate for nonprofits and volunteerism.

“I find that many nonprofits spend much of their time, money, and resources on indirect marketing, such as newspapers, billboards, commercials, and social media ads — which are all good for their purpose, but it’s a passive call to action, a passive outreach.”

LDI takes the personal, in-person approach, setting up tables at community events and near the entrances of establishments where prospective donors go, such as grocery stores, pet stores, departments stores, trade fairs, family festivals, and BART. They are there with permission and in partnership with those properties and organizations.

Taylor and her team of 22+ full-time fundraisers engage with people, face-to-face, sharing information about a specific partner nonprofit, answering questions, and making connections on the spot. They don’t take one-time monetary donations, but rather work to sign people up for automatic, recurring donations, beginning with a pledge of one year, to create a predictable revenue stream and a community of deeply invested supporters for the nonprofit.

“We have conversations with people and introduce them to organizations that help others, inviting them to be a part of that effort. It’s amazing how many people want to help and want to give,” said Taylor. “They appreciate the personal Ask and the details that show them exactly how their donations will help others.”

Taylor mentors her team leaders in the art of fundraising, counseling them on how to build relationships and generate long-term giving. Clockwise around the table, Taylor Nock (standing), Emanuel Myles, Marina Martinez, and Rakeem Naylor.

“Over the years, I’ve found that a lot of people we talk with have just never been asked to give. They see appeals on television, but they’ve never been asked face-to-face, person-to-person. And that’s all we do, all day, every day — we’re in the field speaking directly with people about the nonprofits we represent, seeking support and long-term giving.

“Each team’s job is to provide amazing customer service to prospective donors and to tell the extraordinary stories of our global nonprofit partners. We appeal to their interest in giving back to others in need and show them a path for doing so. That might be $1 a day or $30 a month— any amount that is manageable and meaningful to them. So our goal—and what we’re very good at — is building trust and signing long-term support.”

LDI Promoting Leader Timothy Mitchell spends time with trainee Diana Aleman, teaching her the basics and nuances of face-to-face fundraising, and helping her prepare for field work.

“When I established my business and started recruiting, I found a lot of passionate people like myself who had been looking for this opportunity, to meet people in person, to go out and fundraise on behalf of others, as a means of giving back. Each team represents one nonprofit, becoming the experts and the advocates for that nonprofit. When we’re in the field, we’re essentially the face of that nonprofit. We are the storytellers. We are the human connection. A big part of our success is simply loving what we do, and that translates into millions of dollars for partner nonprofits. At the end of the day, we know our work makes a huge difference in the lives of others.” That’s the LDI way.
