Joozi Juicery Has Served Its Last Smoothie

Located in a well-lit, brightly branded corner of the Shadelands SportsMall opposite American Swim Academy, Joozi Juicery opened in July 2022, and quickly became a popular gathering place for children and adults, offering healthy and refreshing all-natural pure juices, blended juices, and smoothies in a variety of flavors and ingredients.

Tamara Gerlach, co-owner of Encore Gymnastics with Virginia Kelley, opened Joozi as co-owner with her husband and business partner, Mark Hall. Being a part of the sports world, Tamara knows the importance of fresh, nutritious, and delicious choices, particularly when people are looking for easy, on-the-go options.

Tamara Gerlach opened Joozi Juicery to offer young athletes and families healthy, refreshing all-natural pure juices, blended juices, and smoothies, as well as healthy snack alternatives.

She often brought freshly harvested organic apples, oranges, peaches, and other produce in large crates from the ranch she and Mark own in the Suisan Valley, traveling 45 minutes each way, every day, to serve her customers the best seasonal juices and smoothies in town. In addition to beverages, Joozi offered healthy snack alternatives sourced locally from nearby farms and agricultural vendors.

Joozi Juicery’s last day was July 31. Tamara is embarking on new adventures in Suisun Valley, where she and Mark will be expanding and improving another special corner of her world, the very popular Mankas Corner. They will be developing 16 acres of property on the southeast corner of Mankas Corner, while maintaining the character and charm of that historic area of the valley.

“I have loved this business so much, serving something special every day at Joozi,” said Tam, with her signature infectious smile. “I love that we got to make healthy drinks and snacks for kids. I had options that people could say Yes to — parents could say to their kids, ‘Yes, you can have that.’ And we did get compliments from parents who said, ‘Thanks for having so many good choices here.’”

A Joozi associate serves a fresh, organic orange juice blend to a thirsty customer.

“We have the best staff and kids and families, and I’m going to miss seeing them every day — I’m going to miss that a lot.”

Still, having grown the business and served thousands of families, Tamara said this is good timing and the right decision. And Tam is a part of Encore, so she’ll be back, it just won’t be every day. And her new daily commute will now be four minutes instead of 45.

“Whatever I do, I pour my heart into. At Encore, I want people to have fun and feel good and enjoy the sport. At Joozi, I wanted people to have fun and feel good and enjoy the experience. And now, I’m taking this energy home to Suisun Valley. We are putting so much intention into that space — a space where people will feel like they belong. As they do at Encore and as they did at Joozi.”

You’ll read about the new owner of that corner of the SportsMall, who will be offering a menu of acai bowls, in the October issue of The Shadelands Scene.

For now, we wish Tamara Gerlach well on her new adventures. Thank you, Tam, for serving up your healthy choices, your endless feel-good spirit, and your generous helpings of joy! You have made Shadelands a happier, healthier place.

Cheers to Tamara Gerlach, who has helped make Shadelands a happier, healthier place!
